Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) through the Tax Center has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the government in optimizing tax services. This was realized by deploying dozens of students as tax volunteers in collaboration with the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes. The student handover took place at the Undiksha Faculty of Economics, on Tuesday (30/1/2024).
Chair of the Undiksha Tax Center, I Nyoman Putra Yasa, S.E., M.Sc., BKP explained that Undiksha’s participation in the national tax volunteer activity this time has entered its 4th year. 34 volunteers were active students at the Faculty of Economics. In their duties, these volunteers are divided into two places, namely at KPP Pratama Singaraja and at the Undiksha Campus. It is hoped that its existence can support the optimization of tax services to the public or taxpayers. “We would like to thank the institutions, universities, economic faculties, and especially the Directorate General of Taxes for allowing us to take part in this national activity,” he said.
Functional Tax Instructor Intermediate Expert for the Bali DJP Regional Office, Mozes D F Nangi, said that the role of tax volunteers is very strategic considering the limited number of DJP employees and being faced with the number of taxpayers which continues to increase every year. This is the reason for the need for assistance from third parties, one of which is Undiksha.
These tax volunteers will be very helpful in carrying out outreach to taxpayers in Buleleng Regency. “We hope that this collaboration will not stop this year, but will continue in the following years,” he said.
The tax volunteer handover ceremony to the Bali DJP Regional Office was attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Finance and General Affairs Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd. He expressed his appreciation to the Regional Office of DJP Bali for providing the opportunity for Undiksha to be involved in optimizing tax services. Through this activity, it is also hoped that students can increase their understanding of the field of taxation and find out more about conditions in the field.
The Vice-Chancellor, who is an academic in the sports sector, also specifically encouraged the optimization of tax services from the Undiksha tax center. Therefore, we continue to strive for better management. In fact, it is hoped that in the future the tax center can be shaded by the Rectorate. Different from now who is still at the Faculty of Economics. “So that taxpayer services in our academic community can be handled well,” he added.
One of the reasons why Undiksha students participate in becoming tax volunteers is because they want to gain more real experience or direct practice regarding tax services. One of them was delivered by Kadek Yuda Mahardika. Nyoman Mas Ayu Tirtawati also conveyed the same thing. This sixth-semester student has been a tax volunteer three times and has gained a lot of experience. “The first impression was that I was still confused, but as I got closer I realized that there were still many taxpayers who didn’t know how to report taxes and lacked people, so we as the younger generation helped and participated in tax reporting,” he said.
This tax volunteer activity will last more than one month. In the participation process, students follow a series of stages, from administration to special tests. (hms)
