Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is truly committed to supporting the government in efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This was demonstrated again by the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assistance to medical personnel at the Singaraja Army Hospital, Buleleng Hospital, Pratama Girimas Hospital, Sawan District and Kodim 1609/Buleleng, Tuesday (2/6/2020). Apart from that, there is also the distribution of basic food assistance to residents in a number of villages as an effort to ease the economic burden.
The handover of PPE was carried out by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd together with the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI, and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. The total assistance was in the form of 310 hazmat suits, 35 boxes of masks, and 166 pairs of boots, which were sourced from voluntary funds from the Undiksha academic community. In addition, there is also assistance from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Chancellor of Jampel said that preventing the spread of Covid-19 needed to be done in mutual cooperation, including for medical personnel who are at the forefront of treating patients. “Undikha is indeed committed to sharing in order to jointly overcome the spread of Covid-19,” he said. Delivered further, PPE assistance will also be distributed to other hospitals that work with Undiksha.
Head of the Singaraja Army Hospital, dr. Rinie Indah Chandra Wirasati, Sp.KJ appreciates this assistance because it is very important for patient care, both during the Covid-19 pandemic and the new normal that the government plans to implement. “Of course, we are grateful for the assistance from the Undiksha academic community,” she said.
Apart from PPE, Undiksha also handed over fatal assistance in Pancasari Village and Tegalinggah Village, Buleng Regency in synergy with Kodim 1609/Buleleng. Previously, Undiksha also distributed groceries for residents in Banyuseri Village, Banjar District, Buleleng Regency. The distribution carried out by the Chancellor of Undiksha and his ranks targeted underprivileged communities. Some of them are elderly and persons with disabilities. A similar program is also planned to target other areas, including the distribution of masks.
Headman of Banyuseri Village, Nyoman Sukadana appreciated the movement carried out by Undiksha. “From the start, we have been given a sink and groceries. This means that Undiksha’s concern is extraordinary. Regarding the problem of the impact of Covid, it has a big impact on residents, especially those with middle to lower income levels,” he said. Apart from Banyuseri Village, previously the Undiksha Movement had also targeted a number of residents in the Buleleng Regency area. Undiksha as an academic institution has also designed post-Covid-19 programs. Some of them are in the form of tutoring for teachers and students who experience learning delays due to not being used to using online learning, providing assistance for psychological mental development, and social approaches in an effort to arouse enthusiasm for work.
