Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has declared it an International Reputable University in Education and Leadership (IRUEL). This is one of the efforts to accelerate the realization of the vision of becoming a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045. The faculty also welcomes to achieve this target through various programs. The Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) is no exception, which is rolling out a program to improve English language skills for education staff (Tendik).
This increase in mastery of international languages is carried out through training which was opened by the Dean of FBS, Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd, Friday on June 4th, 2021. The training, which is held twice every Sunday, lasts for three months. On that occasion, Prof. Sutama conveyed that in realizing Undiksha as IRUEL as well as accelerating the realization of the vision, the efforts made were not only sufficient to improve academic quality and more broadly in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education consisting of education and teaching, research, and community service. But it also needs to be supported by improving the quality of education personnel who are very much in touch with public services. “The relevance of this activity refers to the university’s vision, which of course must be supported for quality improvement. This training activity is expected to improve the performance and professionalism of the staff of the Faculty of Languages and Arts,” he explained.
Mastery of foreign languages, especially English, continued the Dean from Ubud, Gianyar Regency also to support the internationalization at home program that was launched by Undiksha in 2019. Through this program, Undiksha is expected to become a learning house for the international community. “By mastering English in particular, educators will be ready to provide services to students or guests from abroad,” he said.
This training activity emphasizes more on speaking with the student center method. It is hoped that all participants will follow well, so as to produce output as expected. (rls/hms)
