Singaraja- Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) academics to date have produced a lot of research. The product downstream continues to be encouraged so that it is able to enter the industrial world. To strengthen this, through the Research and Community Service Institute, a seminar was held on Saturday (27/7/2019) presenting a guest speaker, Director of Technology-Based Startup Companies, Directorate General of Strengthening Innovation, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Ir. Retno Sumekar, M.Sc.
Retno Sumekar revealed that every year there are between 500 and 1,500 proposals submitted by researchers from various universities to get funding from the central government. However, after being verified, only about a hundred proposals met the criteria. Most of the research conducted has not looked at the needs of society and the market. Admittedly, it is still a problem today. “It is still very difficult for us because the researchers’ research has not seen the needs of the market or society, so it is very difficult for us to push for downstream or industrial activities,” she said.
Through this seminar, it is hoped that the understanding of researchers can increase and be able to produce higher quality research. “We also want LPPM to be able to provide input to researchers about what the community needs. What research was done? Right now we are looking at only pushing research results to become industrial. It was very heavy,” she said.
On that occasion, she also saw research potential that could be downstreamed, especially in Bali, the potential is quite large. As with the culinary field that is found very diverse. The area’s wealth can be packaged into something of value with an added touch of technology. “Research that can be downstream can be done by looking at the potential of the region,” she added.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI., hopes that through this seminar, more and more Undiksha researchers are proposing proposals to obtain funding for Prospective Technology-Based Startup Companies (CPPBT) and Technology-Based Startup Companies (PPBT). “Undiksha academics have produced a lot of research. Now it’s just how to improve to a higher level, “he said. He emphasized that the proposal submitted was not limited to science and technology research. But also the socio-cultural potential which is huge in Bali. Working on it can be with interdisciplinary synergy. “Those in the field of social science can synergize with science and technology. They complement each other,” he added. (hms)
