Singaraja- Dozen of Civil Servants Candidates (CPNS) lecturers at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) received their official decree letters on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. That Decree were presented by the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd.
This ceremony took place in Ganesha III Rectorate Room and was witnessed by the leaders at Rectorate to Faculty levels. A total of 42 CPNS who qualify for the 2023 selection process received their decrees and will officially commence their duties on August 1, 2024.
In addition to presenting the decrees, the Rector of Undiksha, emphasized several key points. He urged the candidates to fulfill their main duties as a lecturer as outlined in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service. “As new members of the institutions, CPNS are expected to be more active on campus, except in cases of emergency.”
The Rector specifically emphasized the importance of Lecture obligation about research. Research should not be seen merely as a routine task but as a demonstration of a lecturer’s competence. The result of their research should be applied in community service. These responsibilities must be understood and fulfilled as lecturers carry out their duties. “No matter how many teaching hours you accumulate, without producing research and publications, you are merely an instructor not lecture.” he stated
In 2025, Prof Lasmawan expressed his intention to reinstate a reward system for the writers who publish in reputable journals and regardless of rank. This initiative is expected to stimulate and motivate lecturers to write, especially related in their areas of expertise.
During this occasion, it was also announced that by 2025, Undiksha aims to achieve zero magister status to lecturers. Consequently, all the lecturers candidates, mostly still magister education degrees, are encouraged to pursue doctoral studies as soon as possible. “The institution will not only encourage but will also provide support. If not getting a scholarship, Undiksha will offer financial assistance for further studies.” he added.
Through this meeting, all lecturers candidates were encouraged to maintain a conducive environment within the institution and to prioritize coordination and communication in their work.
