Singaraja- The Covid-19 Pandemic did not dampen students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) ‘s spirit to join international programmes. These students are Putu Ratih Megantari and Ayu Kristari Dewi Alit. These two students from the Japanese Language Education Study Programme passed the mobility programme at Ohkagakuen University, Japan. This achievement was appreciated and conveyed by the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., in the meeting on Wednesday (23/3/2022).
The Rector from Badung Regency said that the student mobility programme with Ohkagakuen University was the third time held. He appreciated the enthusiasm of students who took part in international programmes for this semester. This programme is part of Undiksha’s implementation and effort to become a university of international repute. “As the Rector of Undiksha, I am very happy and proud of the younger students because they are brave and eager to participate in international activities, both by universities and non-universities abroad. I hope this can be a motivation for other students,” he said, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Undiksha Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., and Head of the Undiksha Public Relations and Cooperation Agency, Made Windu Antara Kesiman, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.
He further emphasized that international experience is very important for students to increase competitiveness and open up opportunities for the future. In addition, it is also important to improve competence in the era of disruption of technology and the 21st century. “There are three things we must do: mastering technology, mastering data, and mastering language, and humanistic literacy is the main thing. In addition, in the 21st century, the main skills are 4C’s; critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication, plus compassion and computational are also necessary,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ratih Megantari and Alit Mandala admitted that they were very happy to be able to join this programme. “I feel very happy because this is the first time I have been able to go abroad, especially during this pandemic. On this occasion, I feel very proud of myself and thank you for the support from the University,” they said.
This experience is also used as a motivation for them to continue improving their quality and open up opportunities to achieve their dreams of working in Japan and being an inspiration for other students. (lpsy)
