Badung- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Evaluation and Reflection of Student Affairs Program Achievements 2022, In Kuta, Badung, 27 and 28 November 2022.
The FGD was attended by Heads of Bureaus, Vice Deans III of faculties within Undiksha, student affairs program teams, functional officials of student affairs and staff, the Head of the Student Consultative Council, the Student President of the Republic of students, and several Head of Student Executive Board.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., when opening the event, said that in 2022, various student programs had been implemented. The program refers to the Student Ranking Management System and the Freedom to learn-Independent Campus or Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy, such as improving soft skills, entrepreneurship, student creativity programs, and so on. Apart from that, for achievements, quite a lot has been achieved by students, both at national and international levels.
Next year, efforts to improve the quality of the program continued. It is hoped that this will always receive support from the academic community. “We refer to several references, such as MBKM being the main reference. Entrepreneurship programs, apprenticeships and projects, wiradesa, are very synergistic with MBKM, so students can later credit their activities, their achievements, so they no longer need to take courses that appropriate because it has been converted to student activities. So that’s an advantage,” he explained.
In order to encourage the growth of achievements, it is stated that Undiksha always pays attention both to the budget and giving awards to students and lecturers.
This activity presented Undiksha’s Vice Rector for General Administration, Planning, Finance and Resources, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., as a speaker. He presented material on the student affairs budget. It was emphasized that Undiksha paid serious attention to the student program budget with an allocation of 10 to 11 percent.
Besides that, the SME Trainer and Assistant, Dr. Wisnu Sakti Dewobroto also the speaker. He gave material on entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is one of the mainstays of the central government, which is also encouraged among universities.
He said this program had not only an economic impact but also a social one. Therefore, students are expected to be at the forefront of being problem solvers.
Undeniably, there are challenges in developing entrepreneurship, especially in universities. The most prominent challenge is the fear of failure. By university, this needs to be overcome by creating a friendly campus for entrepreneurship. University can routinely bring entrepreneurs and other related parties to the campus to share experiences and solutive things. “From there, students not only learn from lecturers but also learn from SMEs or tough local entrepreneurs. From there they will be increasingly supported if they fail. Lecturers are okay, but we need other elements such as other entrepreneurs or related agencies,” explained Dewobroto.
Dewobroto sees that the entrepreneurial climate of Undiksha students is growing. This growth is shown by the very high number of proposals that have passed in the last two years, and some have won the 2022 Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Week in Surabaya. This entrepreneurial climate is expected to continue to be developed by looking at the potential and uniqueness of the region. (hms)
