Badung- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Evaluation and Reflection of 2022 Student Affairs Program Achievements, which took place in Kuta, Badung, 27 and 28 November 2022.
The FGD was attended by the Head of the Bureaus, the Vice Deans III of the faculties in Undiksha, the program team in the field of student affairs, functional officials and staff in the field of student affairs, the Chairperson of the Student Consultative Assembly, the President of the Student Republic and several Chairpersons of the Student Executive Board.
Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., when opening the event, said that in 2022, various student programs had been implemented. The programs refer to the Student Ranking Management System and the Freedom to Learn Independent Campus or Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka ( Policy (MBKM), such as improving soft skills, entrepreneurship, student creativity programs, etc. In addition, many achievements have been achieved by students, both at the national and international levels.
The following year, efforts to improve quality and strengthen the program continued. This effort is always expected to receive support from the academic community. “We refer to several references, such as MBKM, which is the main reference. The entrepreneurship program, internships, and projects, wiradesa, are very synergistic with MBKM so that students can later credit their activities, and their achievements, so they no longer need to take the appropriate courses because they have been converted with student activities. So that’s the benefit,” he explained.
In order to encourage the growth of achievement, it is stated that Undiksha always gives attention, both to the budget and giving awards to students and lecturers. This activity presented Undiksha’s Vice Rector for General Administration, Planning, Finance, and Resources, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., as a resource person. He presented material about the budget for student affairs. He emphasized that Undiksha gives serious attention to the student affairs program budget with an allocation of 10 to 11 percent.
Dr. Wisnu Sakti Dewobroto, an MSME trainer and mentor, was also present as a speaker. He provided material on entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is one of the flagships of the central government, which is also promoted among universities.
He mentioned that this program has not only an economic impact but also a social one. Therefore, students are expected to be at the forefront of being problem solvers.
There are challenges in developing entrepreneurship, especially in higher education. The most prominent challenge is the fear of failure. Universities need to overcome this by creating a friendly campus for entrepreneurship. The campus can regularly bring entrepreneurial actors and other related parties to campus to share experiences and solutive things. “From there, students learn not only from lecturers but also from SMEs or local entrepreneurs. From there, they will be more supported if they fail. Lecturers are okay, but we need other elements, such as other entrepreneurs or related agencies,” Dewobroto explained.
Dewobroto saw that the entrepreneurial climate of Undiksha students had grown. This growth is indicated by the number of proposals that have passed in the last two years, which is very high, and some have won the Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Week in 2022, which took place in Surabaya. This entrepreneurial climate is expected to continue to be developed by looking at the potential and uniqueness of the region. (hms)
