The action of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) to collaborate with Gateway, Norway in sport development has been realized. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both parties took place on Thursday (02/07/2019).
Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., stated that the development of the sports field was continuously done through the Faculty of Sports and Health. Coaching for students has been carried out intensively and showed positive results so far. Some students have been able to bring national and international achievements. Through this new collaboration, it is expected that there will be an increase in quality and competitiveness. “We hope that Undiksha sports field will be better. Students can be more competent and competitive, “he said accompanied by Deputy Rector IV, Drs. I Wayan Suarnajaya, M.A. Ph.D., and Chair of Undiksha Office of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Ni Made Ratminingsih,
Peter Sorrum from Gateway expressed his desire to collaborate with Undiksha regarding the implementation of short courses because of the considerable achievements in various sports. In this collaboration, he tried to bring many students along from Europe to attend the lectures at the faculty for four months. “We also hope there will be an international class in the future,” he said.
Deputy Dean I of Faculty of Sports and Health, Dr. I Ketut Yoda, S.Pd., M.Or., stated the agenda of the cooperation with foreign parties for a long time. When the offer was given and in accordance to the expectations, it was immediately welcome. “This collaboration is in the form of credit transfer for four months with 16 meetings,” he said.
Furthermore, in this collaboration, a number of courses have been selected with a total of 21 credits. Those were diving, surfing, rafting, futsal, and beach volleyball. There would be also supporting subjects such as recreational sports, learning planning and sports physiology. “They will be instructors in sports after taking several courses,” he said.
