Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) held a Socialization of Intellectual Property Rights (HKI), Wednesday (31/5/2023). The resource person presented was I Made Delon Mahayana, S.H., M.Hum from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali.
This activity was opened by the Head of LPPM Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes. He represents the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. In his remarks, he said that until now violations of intellectual property rights still occur frequently. Therefore, Undiksha through the Intellectual Property Center still sees the need for socialization in order to increase the understanding of lecturers and other related parties.
Delivered further, some examples of violations of intellectual property rights are plagiarism or making works that are the same as those that existed before, using the same logo, and so on. This can happen due to ignorance or unconsciousness. “IPR violations can occur for two reasons, one of which is not knowing and not knowing,” he said.
The existence of violations against IPR can certainly have a negative impact, starting from being entangled in legal cases, causing economic harm, and the biggest impact is that it can reduce the creativity of creators. As one of the academic institutions that have the potential to produce IPR, Undiksha has an important role to play in preventing irregularities or violations.
Through this opportunity, it was also conveyed that in order to maintain the IPR of the academic community, Undiksha provides funding assistance for lecturers and students for registration.
This socialization activity was attended by the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida) of all regencies/cities in Bali Province, as well as study program coordinators within Undiksha. (hms)
