For students who come from underprivileged families, registering for KIP Kuliah in 2024 is the first step towards fulfilling their academic dreams.
KIP Independent College is a transformation of Bidikmisi which has been running since 2010. In 2021, KIP Kuliah Merdeka has guaranteed education costs and living costs assistance for more than 150,000 recipient students who enter tertiary institutions through various college and polytechnic entry routes throughout PTN and PTS. KIP Kuliah Merdeka aims to increase the economic potential and social mobility for students from poor/vulnerable to poor families. KIP Kuliah Merdeka is equipped with new education and living costs policies to encourage prospective students from poor/vulnerable families to study at superior study programs at the best universities in Indonesia.

- Guaranteed education costs are paid directly to the tertiary institution based on study program (Prodi) accreditation.
- Living Cost Assistance
will be given to selected KIP Kuliah Merdeka recipient students. Living expenses assistance is entirely the student’s right so it is transferred directly to the recipient’s student account. Students can use this assistance to meet various needs during college and the university cannot use it for any additional costs.
In 2023, living cost assistance given to selected students will be given in 5 clusters of amounts based on region, namely IDR 800,000, IDR 950,000, IDR 1,100,000, IDR 1,250,000 and IDR 1,400,000 per month which is based on the results of the Cost of Living Survey and the National Socio-Economic Survey by the Central Statistics Agency.
For additional information, education costs are proposed by universities to Puslapdik based on the average education costs for non-KIP Kuliah Merdeka students in each study program in the same academic year or 1 year previously.
The maximum amount for study programs with A accreditation is IDR 12,000,000 specifically for medical study programs and a maximum of IDR 8,000,000 for non-medical study programs. For accreditation B, the maximum is IDR 4,000,000 and accreditation C is a maximum of IDR 2,400,000. With this educational cost guarantee, universities may no longer ask for additional costs related to the educational operations of KIP Kuliah Merdeka Program recipients or directly related to the learning process. However, educational operational costs do not include:
- the cost of alma mater jackets or practical clothes
- hostel fees
- supporting costs for implementing KKN, PKL, or internships
- costs for learning and research activities carried out independently
- graduation fees.
KIP Kuliah 2024 offers prospective students the opportunity to continue their education without tuition fees and with the support of pocket money. Registration requirements include various criteria, but for prospective students who still need to meet these criteria, there is still the option to register by showing the appropriate combined gross income.
