STUDENT Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) does not only deal with the academic world. A world that is attached to the mastery of various materials presented in lectures. However, many of these superior accredited higher education students hone their abilities in non-academic fields. This is often campaigned by the leadership as a medium to hone soft skills.
Putu Sita Ardi Cahyani, is one of the students who took that path. Students of the Bachelor of Accounting Study Program develop an interest in the field of beauty pageants. For most people, maybe this field is not familiar. This field is one of the competitions that mainly focuses on the physical beauty of the contestants. It also includes personality, talent, and skill in answering the jury’s questions as the judging criteria.
Interest in wrestling beauty pageants by semester VI students has appeared since 2020. She was inspired by Frederika Alexis Cull, a girl of Lampung-British blood who won the 2019 Puteri Indonesia event and subsequently became Indonesia’s representative in the Miss Universe event. She made it into the top 10 at the international event. Apart from her achievements, the student who is familiarly called Sita also admires the other side of Frederika. Like, has a calm personality and has an interest in modeling since childhood as well as his love for animals.
Armed with motivation to gain experience, this Buleleng native student continues to hone and develop his interests. In 2020, he finally made up his mind to register for the Ning Ayu selection event. An event pageant that is engaged in tourism, culture, education, to the environment, which has been held since 2017.
Who would have thought, with high spirits and full support from their parents, this student who also has a hobby of singing manage to become the best contestant? This achievement also accompanies his steps to progress to the Bali provincial level as a representative for Buleleng Regency.
In this event, bigger responsibilities must be completed better. The competitors they are facing are no longer Buleleng blood friends, but representatives from each district in Bali. According to Sita, the competition in this event was very tight. Always practicing, learning, and preparing everything carefully is something that must be done.
Undergoing quarantine for three days is not an easy matter for this Aquarian. Being an only daughter, made her very close to her mother. Even so, this was not too much of a problem for him, considering that the district ambassadors were not only competitors but also a new family.
Day after day passed by her by practicing talents and reading things related to general knowledge. Often he asks for input and suggestions from relatives who have experience in the event pageant. Her principle always carries is humility and not being easily satisfied with something.
Results will never betray effort. On the night of the grand final, Ning Ayu Buleleng was declared in the top 5 and placed 4th and managed to get the 2020 Talented Ning Ayu title thanks to her extraordinary singing talent. Even though she has not yet won the top 3 position, Sita never gives up. In fact, this has become a new encouragement for her, especially the urge to train more. English skill.
According to this 21-year-old student, victory is not the only thing that must be fought over. Many other positive things that are obtained and useful in everyday life, such as what he experienced himself. Before joining this event, she was shy and lacked self-confidence. But after that, he felt more able to face crowds, because indirectly he had practiced public speaking.
In the future, Sita is very enthusiastic to take part in the event beauty pageant even more prestigious. The experience continues to be dug deeper while still young. For him, getting out of his comfort zone will be very helpful in realizing the dreams he wants to achieve.
