The Faculty of Economics (FE) at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) is encouraged to be a pioneer in implementing international classes. This is to support the vision of this university which already has a Faculty of Medicine, to become a Superior University in Asia based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia in 2045, in addition to the launch of internationalization at home in 2019. This was emphasized by Deputy Chancellor II, Prof. Dr. Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., when he was a resource person at the FE Operational Development Workshop, on Monday (17/12/2018).
This academic from Bonyoh Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency explained that it is very possible to implement this educational innovation. Many lecturers and teaching staff already mastered English. Apart from that, in terms of facilities, such as study rooms, some already meet standards. If there are still deficiencies, improvements can be made. The rectorate will also provide full support for this. “In terms of the number of students, the Faculty of Economics is quite large. I want this program to be running starting next year. “This is to realize the university’s vision and internationalization,” he stressed.
As an initial stage, this program can be applied to management and accounting majors. According to him, on an international basis, graduates will be able to compete on a wider stage. It is not limited to “fighting” at the regional or national level. “Now FE is a pioneer. Other faculties can also implement such programs. “The most important thing is mutual commitment,” he said.
On that occasion, FE was also encouraged to develop a special postgraduate program for management and accounting majors. “Postgraduate programs also need attention. “There needs to be development,” said the alumni of the master’s and doctoral program at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI), Bandung.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FE, Prof. Dr. Naswan Suharsono, M.Pd., immediately discussed this program with his staff so that it could be realized in the 2019 academic year. “We will immediately prepare this. “Including the student selection process,” he concluded. (hms)
