Employees have an important role in an agency, especially in the service sector. The Faculty of Economics (FE) as one of the relatively young faculties at Ganesha University of Education with a fairly large student body, requires competent staff to carry out all operational activities. In an effort to increase competency to provide optimal service, staff carried out administrative comparative studies at Yogyakarta State University (UNY), specifically at the Faculty of Economics.
Accompanied by the Deputy Dean II of the Faculty of Economics, I Putu Gede Parma S.St.Par., M.Par., the activity was carried out on 11-12 December 2018. Employees who took part in this working visit included staff in the student and academic affairs department, administration department, public relations, and faculty IT team. There is also the Head of the Administration Section and the Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Subdivision of the Faculty of Economics, I Gede Pawana Ngurah Putra, S.T. and Putu Waspada, S.Pd.
His arrival was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Yogyakarta State University, Dr. Sugiharsono, M.Sc., Deputy Dean III, Isroah, M.Si., and Head of Administration, Dra. Sri Ningsih and her staff. In his speech, Sugiharsono explained the history of the founding of the UNY Faculty of Economics which is not much different from the Undiksha Faculty of Economics. It was previously stated that it was part of the Faculty of Social Sciences which then separated itself and gave birth to a new faculty in 2011. The welcome was continued with a betel nut from I Putu Gede Parma. It was stated that the visit was intended to increase insight into providing services to the academic community.
The work visit was carried out in the form of a sharing session/discussion as well as direct observation of several objects and rooms in the UNY Faculty of Economics building. Filled with an explanation from Sri Ningsih regarding the faculty organizational structure. It was stated that there were 39 staff members, consisting of 16 employees in the academic sector and 23 employees in the general and finance departments. Apart from that, regarding academic and student services and administration, most of them are implemented using an online system, so the use of paper is very minimal. Isroah added that there are online lectures packaged in a system entitled “Be Smart”, which is very useful in making classroom use more efficient. As a closing sharing session, Parma hopes that this service system can be applied at the Undiksha Faculty of Economics and institutions that should be able to advance operational teaching and learning activities as well as improve the service of staff.
