Singaraja- The Faculty of Education, Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) pays serious attention to the independent campus and free learning policies that were rolled out by the Ministry of Education and Culture. To support this, efforts are made to expand cooperation in educational development, one of which was initiated by the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This was discussed on Tuesday (3/3/2020).
The discussion which took place on the FIP campus was attended by Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. He revealed that the university continues to encourage cooperation with overseas universities and is being welcomed by the faculties. This step is also very important to support the internationalization at-home program that has been announced by the Chancellor of Undiksha in 2019. “This collaboration is important for the university. We want more and more foreign students to study at Undiksha so that it can become the home of the international community. We also want students here and lecturers to be able to take part in programs at foreign universities,” he explained.
He emphasized that until now Undiksha has collaborated with universities spread across a number of countries in Asia, such as Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The program is not only in the form of student and lecturer exchanges but also in the implementation of street vendors and PPL programs, as well as fast track. “We hope that cooperation can also be established with the UKM Education Faculty. It can be student exchanges, lecturer exchanges, or research,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FIP Undiksha, Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi., said according to his thoughts, there are four areas that have the opportunity for cooperation. First, visiting professors/lecturers, one of which is to provide experience and international insights to lecturers. “We have five professors. There are also eleven doctoral lecturers in various fields,” he said.
The second program is in the form of joint research involving lecturers. This program is for sharing research experiences, broadening the power of generalizing research results, and producing articles for publication. Third, in the form of student exchanges, one of which is to respond to the independent campus policy and independent learning. The program that is followed can be in the form of lectures in class or research. “In this program, our students can study there for two semesters,” he said. While the fourth is in the form of joint publications as an effort to accelerate the dissemination of articles written by lecturers from each tertiary institution. “Here you can also write articles together. Because there is a tendency for articles co-authored by authors from several countries to be more competitive to be published in international journals with circulation,” he added.
Dean of the UKM Education Faculty, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Norazah Mohammad Nordin is very open to this offer of cooperation. In fact, she offered Undiksha lecturers to be able to continue their doctoral education at UKM with a Ph.D. “I as UKM, come to pick up,” he said. She emphasized that this collaboration must support each other so that what was initiated can run as expected. “There must be the same spirit,” she said. Regarding cooperation with foreign universities, she said that many have been carried out, including those in Indonesia. (hms)
