Denpasar- The internationalization at home program has been launched by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., 2019. Vice Rector I, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T.,M.TI, who is in charge of this field, continues to design strategic steps to strengthen the program, including in 2021. This was revealed in his presentation at the Development Coordination Meeting (Rakorbang) at the Bali Beach Hotel, Denpasar (3/12/ 2019).
Rasben Dantes generally handles academics and cooperation. In an effort to strengthen the internationalization program at home, international classes are initiated, holding fast-track programs (double degrees), and optimizing the use of online learning. In addition, by maximizing student participation in the overseas PPL-PKL program which has been running since 2017. Supporting these programs, Undiksha has collaborated with a number of universities in Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The latest also exists with Iwate University, Japan, and Ming Chi University of Technology. “We want Undiksha to become the home of the international community. It’s running now but still needs improvement. Visiting lecturers are also like that,” he said.
The success of the program, he continued, needs to be balanced with improving the quality of Human Resources (HR), especially teaching staff in terms of mastery of foreign languages and educational qualifications. This is also in line with what Vice Chancellor II, Prof. Dr. Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., one of whom handles the human resources sector. No less important, according to him, is the need for standardization of study rooms, which can be done in stages. Likewise with the procurement of laboratory equipment and certification. “These are some efforts that need to be done again in the future,” he explained.
Scientific publications and research cannot be separated from universities. Therefore, every year it is hoped that it can continue to increase and the quality will get better, including there is a downstream that can partner with the industrial sector. “To maximize publication, one way is to encourage Undiksha lecturers to be able to write with foreign partners. This must also be identified and classified,” said the 44-year academic.
Study program accreditation is also not spared. In 2019, Undiksha has 9 study programs accredited A, 46 accredited B, and 10 study programs accredited C (new study programs). Faculty leaders are encouraged to make breakthroughs in order to accelerate the realization of superior study programs. “Including those that have been accredited A, they must continue to improve their quality. Can pursue international accreditation, “he concluded. (hms)
