Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) wants to become a trendsetter and an internationally reputable university. This continues to be campaigned for the academic community, one of which is through a public lecture, Monday (15/11/2021). This event, which took place offline and online, presented the Special Staff Coordinator for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Anak Agung Gde Ngurah Ari Dwipayana as the speaker.
Ari Dwipayana said that to become a trendsetter and internationally reputable university, what universities do is not only by inviting foreign students. More than that, it is necessary to increase academic interaction with the outside world. This interaction can be through expanding cooperation in developing and improving the quality of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service. Another thing that can also be done is through organizing international events, such as research, writing scientific papers, workshops, seminars, and so on. In the midst of technological developments, academic interaction can be supported by strengthening university websites that are equipped with creative content.
According to Ari Dwipayana, trendsetters are not merely a matter of style. More importantly than that, how can tertiary institutions contribute to society, either with innovative thoughts or ideas? In the millennial era, higher education is also able to bring out innovation and creativity. “The meaning is that Undiksha is not only reputable but able to take root, namely providing solutions to community problems,” he said.
Undiksha carries the Tri Hita Karana philosophy as a foundation for development and realizing the vision of becoming a superior university in Asia in 2045. Ari Dwipayana gave his appreciation for this and it is hoped that the values of Tri Hita Karana can be actualized more and more, both in lectures, thoughts, and ideas. ideas for the public.
On that occasion, this man from Ubud, Gianyar Regency also had time to express his admiration for Buleleng Regency and Singaraja City which are the locations of the Undiksha Campus. He mentioned that the area known as Bumi Panji Sakti historically has a lot of local wisdom and has branding as a city of education. In its development, it is considered that it needs to be strengthened by building the best ecosystem to encourage a creative and innovation hub. This is what is hoped for support from tertiary institutions, including Undiksha.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude for Ari Dwipayana’s presence at Undiksha. This is considered an encouragement for Undiksha to continue working and getting better. He was also very supportive and agreed with what was conveyed, both concerning increasing Undiksha’s capacity for the public and increasing creativity and innovation in order to face the era of disruption. “Our special presidential staff believes that Undiksha will grow like a tree, with strong roots, namely the Tri Hita Karana philosophy which forms the framework for Undiksha in carrying out its activities,” Jampel said. In addition to the public lecture, this opportunity also included the signing of a collaboration between Undiksha and the Puri Kauhan Ubud Foundation. This collaboration is related to the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. (hms)
