Singaraja– Along with the increasing demands for university graduates, Undiksha is now really preparing students to be ready to face the challenges of the industrial revolution era. Students are not only equipped with hard skill competencies but also soft skills that must be nurtured from an early age. This time Undiksha invited Dalang I Wayan Nardayana S.Sn., M.Fil.H. He is known as the mastermind behind “Cenk Blonk” who was present at the Undiksha Auditorium giving Dharma Discourse, Monday (11/11/2019).
As many as 400 students from class 2019, from all faculties were present to listen to this Dharma discourse with Deputy Dean III. Vice Chancellor III Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., conveyed that this event was a series of activities in order to develop new students’ soft skills. Previously, new students had been invited to do outbound activities. He said the reason for inviting Dalang Nardayana was because he was able to give advice in a different and unique way. “He (Dalang Nardayana, red) is a puppeteer who is able to give advice that is packaged through puppetry methods with examples and illustrations interspersed with entertainment,” he said.
Indeed, in giving dharma discourse, Dalang Nardayana provides many illustrations through videos, even the puppeteer’s style is not removed at all. The participants in this activity couldn’t even hold back their laughter when they listened to some of the illustrations. Even the use of the Balinese language has never been forgotten by this puppeteer who is famous for his humor.
One of the participants stated that this activity was very interesting and hoped that the next time there would be events like this held again. “It’s a different way of conveying messages. If you just listen to what is said, it doesn’t seem to make sense. But if you think about it and examine it, it really makes sense,” he explained. One of the sentences that made the participants laugh was when the Dalang gave an illustration of how we have to believe in ourselves. “When you ask God for patience, God will give you problems to test your patience, because that’s his way of giving the blessing of patience,” he commented. This activity, which is packaged in a different form, does provide its own color for new students. Through this, it is hoped that students can reap positive values to improve their soft skills in pursuing education at Undiksha. (hms)
