Singaraja – Thousands of students from the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) will immediately take part in the Real Field Experience Practice (PPL) program for odd semesters in 2019. It is not desirable for students from various study programs to only create things that are normative in nature. But it can give birth to teaching innovation. This was emphasized by Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., when opening the debriefing at the Campus Auditorium, on Friday (19/7/2019).
The former Deputy Dean I of the Undiksha Faculty of Engineering and Vocational (FTK) said that the current condition of students is very different from a few years ago. As the millennial generation, PPL participants must be able to create breakthroughs in relevant teaching, one of which is by utilizing information technology. “When I was at school, I still showed pictures on paper. Now must be able to keep up with technology. Not having to develop a learning model. It takes a long time. But it can use learning media that already exists on the internet. I give such a challenge. There has to be innovation,” he said.
The student, he continued, must also make changes to the school in a better direction. This can be collaborated with teachers at school. “If they have teaching ideas, students can tell their teachers at school. There has to be collaboration and communication,” he said. In the previous PPL, it was acknowledged that there had been innovations created by students. However, it still needs to be improved.
Head of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN Marhaeni, M.A., said that at the PPL which has been running for eight weeks, students must also be able to implement the Tri Hita Karana philosophy which is the basis for realizing Undiksha’s vision as a superior university in Asia in 2045. “In this debriefing, Tri Hita Karana is still emphasized to always be implemented in every place,” she said. The PPL program was attended by around 1,400 students. They went to a number of schools spread across Buleleng, Tabanan, Denpasar, and Badung Regencies. Through this program, it is hoped that the quality of students will improve so that they become graduates who are competitive. (hms)
