Singaraja- In-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG-Daljab) batch II in 2021 Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has entered the Field Introduction Practice (PPL) stage. Through this, students consisting of a number of fields of study are expected to be pioneers in reforming the world of education. This was conveyed by the Undiksha PPG Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., in a virtual briefing activity, Thursday (1/7/2021).
The PPL, which lasted until August 6, 2021, was attended by 352 students in the field of Balinese language studies, elementary school teachers, kindergarten class teachers, and natural sciences. PPL was carried out in schools of origin using online mode as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Before participating in PPL, participants must pass a comprehensive exam. This test is one of the breakthroughs found by PPG developers to ensure that prospective teachers who practice later at school, who directly deal with students master the content and learning strategies that they must apply,” explained Nurjaya.
He asserted this PPL shows the accumulation of knowledge that characterizes a professional teacher. Therefore, this stage is something that students should not miss. Through this stage as well, students who are teachers are no longer only struggling as teachers or only as a successor of material to students. But also must be able to appear as an educator. “Of course, we can understand what’s in it. He is a role model, a motivator, a driving force, and so on,” said the Indonesian Language Education academic.
Participating in PPL, teachers are also expected to be able to become pioneers in reforming the world of education, such as designing innovative learning media that are relevant to support learning amid the Covid-19 pandemic as well as other useful findings that can be used as scientific work or articles. “Producing scientific work is of course one form of our function as reformers. Because scientific work is expected to convey our latest findings related to our field,” added Nurjaya.
In the material presented by the PPG team, Dr. Putu Mas Dewantara, S.Pd., M.Pd., there are three progressive cycles carried out by students during PPL, namely the introduction consisting of preparation and connection, application/core of teaching practice, and closing consisting of reflection and follow-up. It was also conveyed that PPL aims to facilitate teachers in developing reflective abilities in teaching students. In addition, it also compiles learning design documents, learning media, and learning materials that are more effective to improve quality and or overcome learning problems faced by students, both online and offline. No less important is also to facilitate teachers in carrying out learning according to the plan that has been prepared by always understanding the successes and obstacles encountered. (hms)
