Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) 2021 will carry out the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) In Service Batch II. This national program has entered its initial orientation, Sunday (23/5/2021). The teachers who come from various regions are expected to become more professional educators and are invited to create superior human resources.
Undiksha PPG Secretary, Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that this program was attended by 352 students, consisting of four fields of study, namely Balinese as many as 39 people, Elementary School (SD) class teachers as many as 210 people, Kindergarten class teachers as many as 68 people, and Natural Sciences as many as 35 people. “This batch is divided into ten groups. For the initial number of registrants as many as 450 people. Due to various reasons, there are some who have postponed their participation,” he explained.
Delivered further, these students come from four provinces, namely East Java, Bali, NTB, and NTT, consisting of 54 districts/cities. This diversity of origins reinforces the expression “PPG Undiksha is the rainbow of the archipelago”. In addition to the initial orientation, students must also take part in other stages, namely deepening the material, learning design, comprehensive testing, and PPL. The final stage was the PPG Student Competency Test (UKM). “We hope that all PPG students can take part in all stages and get the results as expected,” said this academic from Karangasem Regency.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who opened the event said that PPG is one of the spearheads of the government’s mainstay in producing superior, more professional, and more qualified teachers. Such a teacher becomes the foundation for “giving birth” to excellent Human Resources (HR), as is the ideal of the Indonesian nation to support realizing an advanced nation. “PPG aims to improve the competence and professionalism of teachers. To make teachers more superior in order to create superior human resources,” he said.
Superior in question is not only related to the ability to transfer knowledge well to students. But also able to adapt to situations, one of which is the development of information technology. As educators, they must be able to create learning methods that are relevant and have quality output. “If we are not adaptive to change, we will lose competitiveness,” he concluded.
The Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency added, the Undiksha PPG Study Program has won excellent accreditation (A) in 2021. This achievement is expected to get support from students. “Students have a very important role in accreditation. From that, I hope PPG students can show their best quality,” he said.
The presence of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused PPG to be implemented online. It is hoped that this change in situation will not affect the enthusiasm of the participants. “Online is our effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This is also in accordance with the directives of the central government. Hopefully, the participants can understand and still be able to follow all the stages. I also thank the implementing committee because this program can still run as expected, “he added. (hms)
