Badung – Teacher Professional Education (PPG) in 2021 has been completed by the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha). Passing participants reached 70 percent, which is above the national average of 62 percent. This figure places Undiksha in the second highest graduation rank of 75 state and private universities implementing PPG. This was revealed in the opening of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) evaluation and report preparation in Badung, Tuesday (28/12/2021).
PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd, revealed that this achievement was inseparable from the good performance of the instructors and class admins in providing guidance and direction to participants so that the obstacles experienced by participants could be handled. Likewise with the guidance of tutors and services from the implementing committee. He appreciated and expressed his gratitude for the hard work. “On this occasion, I would like to thank all the instructors, both the lecturers, the teachers who were all selected, then the class admins, the committee who really worked very optimally so that our graduation could last as it is now,” he said.
When compared to 2020, Nurjaya stated that the graduation rate for 2021 was not much different. Unlike before the Covid-19 pandemic, graduation rates were always above 90 percent. At that time, the PPG implementation process was carried out directly on campus, so that participants could hone their competencies more optimally. In addition, participants also received more intensive technical training and in-depth material outside of lectures. Conditions are different from during the pandemic, which required all stages of PPG to go online. This condition is faced with network disturbances and a lack of ability to use Information Technology for many participants.
As an educational institution that plays a role in creating superior teachers, Undiksha continues to strive to improve the quality of PPG implementation in the future. It is hoped that the obstacles experienced by participants this year can be overcome. “The purpose of this activity is actually more of an evaluation, we want to see an objective portrait of our PPG activities. Not just compiling reports. But we want to see how the breakthroughs we make going forward, “he added.
Meanwhile, Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the 2021 PPG program. This achievement was seen as the fruit of the seriousness of performance from all parties involved.
He hopes that this work spirit will be maintained and continuously improved. Apart from that, the organizing committee was also reminded that Undiksha always wants to be a trendsetter and an internationally reputable university. PPG is expected to be one of the programs that can contribute to realizing this desire which is supported by the spirit of togetherness and harmony of the management team.
In 2021, the number of PPG participants plotted for Undiksha by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology is 1,708 people. This number consists of 12 fields of study, namely Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Counseling Guidance (BK), Science, Mathematics, Informatics Engineering Education (PTI), English, Indonesian, Balinese, Fine Arts, Physical Education, and Geography. The number of fields of study is the largest during PPG carried out by Undiksha. (hms)
