Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held its introduction to Campus Life Orientation for New Students (PKKMB) for 2024. This activity attended by 3.924 new students from the D3, D4, AND S1 levels, was officially opened by the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayab Lasmawan, M.Pd., on Thursday, August 15, 2024. During this occasion, the “Ganesha Muda” were encouraged to embrace the concept of becoming a “world citizen.”
By “world citizen,” Rector Prof. Lasmawan emphasized the importance of students actively engaging in designing their futures and contributing to the nation’s progress. He also expressed his gratitude to all communities that have entrusted their children’s education to Undiksha.
Furthermore, the Rector from Bangli Regency described Undiksha as an “open in harmony” institution, meaning that any issues arising on campus should be addressed through constructive communication and proper channels. He hopes that new students will adopt this approach. “Information services at Undiksha are also accessible to everyone, both within and outside the campus,” he added. He further expressed his hope that the new students will excel academically and support the realization of Undiksha vision and mission while demonstrating superior traits, attitudes, and thoughts.
The vice rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes., added that this year’s PKKMB themed “Harmony in Diversity: Creating an Inclusive Campus” aimed to introduce campus life and equip new students with the information and experiences that will help them adapt to Undiksha’s academic environment. He emphasized that no hazing activities would be tolerated by the organizing committee during this event.
This PKKMB was packed with various sessions to strengthen students’ soft skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for higher education. The topics covered included the transformation of higher education through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policies, national pillars, the National Movement of Mental Revolution, anti-drugs and anti corruption education, anti-radicalism, sexual violence prevention and response, financial literacy, and student ethics material.
