Singaraja- The selection for new student admissions for the 2022/2023 academic year at the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) has ended. In line with that, this state university is preparing to implement the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB). It was decided, this activity will be carried out directly or offline. Unlike the previous two years which took place online. This was conveyed by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Undiksha Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., after a coordination meeting with the Undiksha Student Republic Student Executive Board (BEM-REMA) and the implementing committee, Monday (25/7/2022).
Suastra explained that the decision was taken at a leadership meeting and reaffirmed by BEM and the committee during the coordination meeting. As an initial agenda, on August 11 2022, all new students will be invited to take part in the pre-PKKMB to get various information. Then on August 15, the opening was held and on 16, 18, 19, and 20 it was continued with activities at the university and faculty level. The closing of the activity will be held on August 22, 2022. Following this activity, participants are required to booster (the third vaccine) and implement health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
It was further emphasized that there was no hazing in this PKKMB. New students should feel excited and happy. In addition, you are not asked to carry or do anything that causes stress or discomfort. This is also a form of implementation of the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM). “Then the tasks are expected to be completed at that time, don’t bring homework that can disturb your rest. This is something new, so students can come to campus comfortably,” he emphasized.
The Chairperson of the PKKMB Organizing Committee, Ketut Yudi Darma Saputra, admitted that he supports and agrees with the decision issued by the Undiksha leadership. On the other hand, he considered the implementation of PKKMB this time to be a challenge because it was again being carried out offline and was still in the atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic. “So we still have a lot of things to find out how it was before. We have to adjust it to the current situation, especially now that we are still in a pandemic situation,” he said.
It is hoped that this activity will run smoothly. The support and cooperation of new students is also very much needed. (hms)
