Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) gave awards to 12 students who took part in the university-level Selection of Achievement Student Selection (Pilpmapres), Friday (3/7/2020). The award was presented by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd in the Rectorate’s Ganesha III Room.
In his direction, Prof. Suastra who was accompanied by the Head of Student Affairs and Public Relations, Drs. I Ketut Surya Panca said that the students who had participated in this event were the best from the study program. Some have made achievements at national and international levels in various fields. “These students are the best,” he said.
Emphasized, appearing in this arena is not the end of the struggle. Students from the undergraduate and diploma levels are still encouraged to continue to improve their quality and achievements. “Don’t settle here. Some are still there who can participate in the next year. So you have to keep improving yourself,” he said.
Achievement is considered very important to increase the competitiveness of students when they have graduated and entered the world of work and society. Therefore, it should really be a serious concern. “IP is not the main reference. But achievement is more important and this is what is difficult to find,” said this academic from Klungkung.
Further conveyed, the implementation of the Pilmapres selection will continue to be evaluated. Even for the following year, it will be carried out earlier, so that students have more time to prepare themselves. It is hoped that this will also receive support from the study program. “The study program is the spearhead. So it must be involved in coaching students so they can achieve achievements. This achievement is one of the indicators for students to be able to take part in the Pilmapres selection,” he explained.
As previously reported, the university-level Pilmapres selection took place online from May 5 to 18. As a result, the first rank for the undergraduate program was won by Dewa Gede Anom Artha Tanaya from the Sports Coaching Education Study Program, Faculty of Sports and Health. Putu Hady Suryanatha won the first rank at the diploma level from the D-3 English Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts. Furthermore, these two students took part in the national-level selection whose stages had already begun.
The implementation of this prestigious event aims to give appreciation to the best college students who are ready to become agents of change to build a better Indonesia. Therefore, the selection is carried out strictly by evaluating various aspects. Namely, the cumulative grade point index (GPA). At Undiksha, the lowest applicant’s GPA is 3.5. In accordance with the name of the competition, participants must also have the best achievements and be active in student organizations. In the midst of global competition, the ability to speak English cannot be separated from this event. The international language is used in the presentation of scientific papers. (hms)
