It had been expected that the splendor of the series of Dies Natalis XXV has finally come to the peak event, on Tuesday (16/01/2018) which was located in Undiksha Auditorium. There could be seen congratulatory wreaths of the 25th anniversary of the Undiksha filled the auditorium. The event was attended by Undiksha officials, the Undiksha senate, lecturers, staff, and invited guests from several agencies.
The peak of Dies Natalis Undiksha XXV was filled with a series of events. It was started with the trumpet blowing, which was then continued with the dance performance of Undiksha’s iconic dance, Ganesha Dance, singing the national anthem of Indonesia Raya and a moment of silence.
In this event, Rector of Undiksha, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. opened the Meeting of Undiksha Senate as well as presented the Rector’s report.
Striking the gong once indicates that the next event was started which was the report from the Rector. In his report, he was very grateful for the achievements and awards that had been achieved by Undiksha at the age of 25. Throughout the year of 2017, Undiksha had been involved in numerous international, regional, national, and local programs and awards, as a form of innovation and community service.
In addition, the year of 2017 was the year of publication. There were various reputable journals and conferences, which were striving for improvement in terms of quality and quantity. Until that year, Undiksha had 110 journals that could be accessed in Undiksha e-journal page.
Departments in Undiksha had been able to improve their accreditation status, from 53 departments in Undiksha, 1 department had been accredited A, 53 accredited B departments and 3 accredited C departments. So was accreditation of Undiksha institution, which had successfully maintained accreditation B. This was a very exciting achievement.
Undiksha was also progressing in terms of research and community service conducted by Undiksha lecturers in their field of study, facilitated by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM).
Undiksha seeks to compete in the development of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to compete in the global environment, through UPT ICT Undiksha which aimed to improve the competitiveness of universities.
In accordance with the Minister of Finance’s decree on “remuneration”, the implementation of Undiksha remuneration had been started since the second semester of 2017. Undiksha was one of the references for new state universities that would go to PTN BLU and apply PTN BLU remuneration system. This proved the success of Undiksha academic community’s synergy in making this institution better and competitive.
Efforts to realize the excellent service in accordance with the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana were done by making Undiksha as an environmentally friendly institution, and improving the quality and quantity of educational infrastructure facilities. The quality of Undiksha academic service had been ensured by the ratio between the lecturers and the “healthy” students. Undiksha also provided scholarships for students through Bidikmisi program, which in this program Undiksha becomed a university with students receiving Bidikmisi from the entire Bali. There were also PPA scholarship, Papua Affirmation, Rector scholarship, BI scholarship, Bangli Pemkab scholarship and Jakarta government scholarship.
Students’ organizational skills were developed in various forms of student organization, as a whole there were 87 Undiksha intra-campus organizations. In addition, Undiksha seek to improve the quality of Undiksha academic community by conducting academic activities to the international level, through study of lecturers and staff abroad, visitation of students abroad, and Undiksha also accepts comparative study conducted by foreign students in Undiksha.
“At the 25th Anniversary of Dies Natalis Undiksha let’s build this institution together with heart, sincere intention, and high commitment. I am sure we will be able to bring this university to compete at national or international level. Let’s unite the determination to build a superior resource of Ganesha, “he concluded.
The sound of the gong echoed once and the Rector’s report was then followed by a Scientific Oration presented by Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. entitled IS / IT Strategic Planning: Strategic Planning of Information Systems / Information Technology in Order to Improve Competitiveness of Universities. He explained that the planning of Information System / Information Technology strategy was needed to build efficiency in the performance of universities concerned, staff, lecturers, and students. Our courage to get out of the ‘Safe Zone’ would spur us to seek a better solution of the problems we face. Through the Information Technology system we would build our image in the community. At the end of the oration, he was seen to shed tears as he was touched by the struggle that he and his fellow editorials and all who had helped him in preparing the Rector’s Annual Report book. He also did not forget to thank his parents and family as well.
The peak of Dies Natalis Undiksha XXV was ended by singing Teacher’s Hymn, Mars Undiksha and Hymne Undiksha led by the Undiksha Choir, which was then closed with prayer. The escorts escorted the Rector and the Undiksha Senate to leave the Auditorium. The funny thing was, after they left the room, the Undiksha Choir performed Sayang song from Via Vallen that made the committee and some lecturers dance.
