Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students once again achieved international-level achievements. This achievement came from two events held by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) on 9-12 April 2022 in Surabaya. There were seven medals won.
At this prestigious event, there were seven Undiksha teams competing. Six of them were in the International Youth Business Competition (IYBC) with three gold medals and three silver medals, and one team in the Global Competition for Life Sciences (GloCoLiS) with a silver medal. This achievement is presented through a variety of innovative works, such as AT-Fection, which is an automatic door lock system using face detection and face recognition. There is also marketing management for plastic waste recycling products, oatmeal cookies that use red bananas, spa salt products, animal feed products, Dotmed Solution which is a business in the field of information technology services that acts as a liaison between freelancers and consumers, as well as suweg jam products. These innovations must compete with products from dozens of teams from five countries.
This achievement was conveyed to the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd, Tuesday (19/4/2022). He also appreciated and expressed his pride. “This is amazing. The leadership is certainly very appreciative, including the mentors,” he said.
It was further said, achievement could not only contribute to Undiksha’s ranking, especially in the student affairs sector. More than that, it is also to increase the competitiveness of students when they become graduates. “This achievement is very useful for individual students, it can be used as a companion to a diploma that can be used as a complement when applying for a job. Therefore, I invite students to be enthusiastic about participating in competitions,” he said.
The Deputy Chancellor, who had served as Director of the Undiksha Postgraduate Program, stated that he would give awards to outstanding students. “This is done every year. This year’s achievement award will be given next year, “he added.
Team representative Ni Putu Ayu Yuli Sumadianti said she was proud of this achievement. According to him, this cannot be separated from the role of mentors. In the future, he intends to continue to make improvements to his product, namely oatmeal cookies. “We want this product to be even better so that it can be included in the PMW,” she said.
Meanwhile, student Putu Satya Dadi Saputra admitted that there were several challenges faced in participating in this competition. Such as preparation time, product creation, and presentation materials. “We make spa salt products. We have to prepare many things,” he said. (hms)
