Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) received an award from the Buleleng Regency government for support and donations through corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in helping to tackle Covid-19. The award was handed over by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Buleleng, I Gede Suyasa at the Buleleng Regent’s Office to the Head of Undiksha’s Academic, Student Affairs, Planning and Cooperation Bureau (AKPK), I Made Yasa who represented the Chancellor of Undiksha, Thursday (11/2/2021).
After the event, Made Yasa expressed his appreciation for the award. He explained that to support the prevention of the spread of Covid-19, Undiksha has distributed assistance in the form of masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) to local governments, a number of hospitals in Buleleng Regency as well as hospitals in Denpasar and Badung Regencies which have collaborated. In particular, masks were also distributed to the community in a number of locations in Buleleng Regency and other areas. The action entitled “Undiksha Sharing” was accompanied by the distribution of basic food assistance to Undiksha students and communities affected by Covid-19 in a number of areas in Bali. “Undiksha has made efforts to support the prevention of Covid-19 through sharing activities,” he said.
Buleleng Regional Secretary, I Gede Suyasa appreciates the existence of CSR from various parties because it can help the government in handling emergencies. The presence of various types of CSR is also to overcome the limitations of the government budget. “Especially for matters that are emergency, disaster, which are not programmed, are systemic in nature, CSR providers can help them,” he said.
This award, according to the bureaucrat from Tejakula Village, Buleleng Regency, is part of the accountability of CSR providers as well as social and environmental responsibility in accordance with what is required by law. It was also emphasized that so that CSR distribution would not be misdirected, the regional government had also formed a team tasked with providing information regarding the assistance needed and its goals.
