Singaraja- Dozens of students from the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) went abroad to take part in the Practical Field Experience (PPL) and Field Work Practice (PKL) programs. Through the program to support internationalization at home, students of various study programs are expected to become human beings who characterize the 4.0 industrial revolution era. Apart from sending, Undiksha also accepts a number of students from abroad for the same program.
At the release and acceptance, Friday (9/8/2019), the Head of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN. Marhaeni, M.A. revealed that in total, there were 98 students participating in the program this year. In detail, for the January-February period, there were 33 departures, and for the July-September period 65 people, targeting universities in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. “Those who took part in this program were from 12 study programs,” he said.
Meanwhile, foreign street vendors from July to September reached 17 people, coming from four universities in Malaysia and the Philippines. This number is more than the previous period which was only 9 people. “For this program, there are economics and engineering,” he explained. Especially for PPL, he continued, 10 students took part in the fields of education, science, social sciences, and arts. They come from five universities spread across Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd appreciated the participation of students in the program that was initiated in 2017. This is a form of support for the internationalization at-home program that was launched in 2019. “To realize this program, we don’t only accept students from abroad. But they also have to dispatch,” he said, accompanied by Undiksha Deputy Chancellor I, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI.
Through this program, students are expected not only to strengthen their knowledge. More than that, it can also exchange cultures that can improve self-quality. “You can learn about a good work ethic abroad. But what is clear is that what we really want is not only to strengthen his scientific quality or competence, but by going abroad, he can become a human being who characterizes the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. There is critical thinking, creative, collaborative, communicative,” he said.
In addition, by participating in the program, Undiksha students were also asked to always implement Tri Hita Karana, namely maintaining good relations with God, fellow humans, and the environment. This universal philosophy is the basis for realizing Undiksha’s vision as a superior university in Asia in 2045. “I want students to be role models there. can get good interpersonal skills, to become a human being with integrity. We will use them as mentors for other students later,” he said.
One of the participants, Made Septi Dwi Indrayani, appreciated this program. Through that, he and other students have the space to add experience which is considered very important for the future. “We are very happy that this program exists. Can provide additional insight, “he said. The number of applicants for this program each period is increasing. For this reason, Undiksha is seeking additional costs to support departures. This includes expanding cooperation with countries outside ASEAN. (hms)
