Singaraja- Hundreds of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students took part in the selection for the Field Work Practice Program (PKL) and Field Experience Practice (PPL) Abroad, Tuesday (23/4/2019). Selection for departure for the August-September 2019 period is divided into three stages, namely English proficiency test, interview, and psychology. “There were 144 students who took part in the selection,” said the Head of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN Marhaeni, M.A.
The psychological test, he continued, was the first time it had been carried out. This is important to know the mental readiness of the participants. “From this test, it is also known what the commitment of students who want to take part in the program is. “They will also follow group dynamics,” she explained. According to planning, the quota sent with university assistance reached 40 people. The universities targeted are in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. “There is one who wants to vote in Australia. Coincidentally, Undiksha has relations there. “So it was facilitated,” she explained. Regarding financing, it was previously stated that in 2017 it would be fully borne by the university. In 2018 only partial subsidies were provided. Meanwhile for 2019, only assistance with ticket purchases. “Undiksha is considered good. Actually from student UKT, there is no allocation for overseas PPL and PKL. These are actually funds managed by Undiksha. “We hope that participants can be independent,” she said.
Since it started, student interest in taking part in this program which is part of internationalization at home has increased. What’s more interesting is not only the English Language Education Study Program but also others. In line with this, Undiksha continues to strive to develop collaboration with a number of universities in other countries, at least level III, and have educational programs. “At the evaluation meeting with SEAMEO in Malaysia, we also developed collaboration with several universities. “This is to respond to the increasing interest of students in joining the program,” she explained. It is hoped that through this breakthrough, the quality of Undiksha students will improve and they will become graduates who are competitive, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. “From this, students will gain experience and improve their quality,” added Marhaeni.
One participant, Ni Putu Werdi Putri, said that her desire to take part in this program was none other than to broaden her knowledge, especially in the field of teaching. “Teaching abroad is not necessarily the same as here. So you can gain insight and experience. “It can also be applied to learning here,” she said. This sixth-semester student of the English Education Study Program admitted that she had received support from her parents to take part in the selection and was expected to pass. “Everyone supports joining. “Financing is the same,” she added.
