Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has rolled out the Field Work Practice (PKL) and Field Experience Program (PPL) programs abroad. This program received a positive response from students. One of them is shown by an increase in the number of registrants and participants.
Based on data from the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), when this program first started, in 2017, the number of applicants was only 34 people and 12 people successfully passed to Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. In 2018, there was an increase. There were 44 applicants and 29 people successfully departed, divided into four universities in Thailand and the Philippines. The trend in 2019 is also the same. In the January-February period, there were around 50 applicants and 33 people managed to go to eight universities spread across the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Meanwhile, for the July-August period, registrants reached 268 people and are currently still taking part in the selection. According to planning, the quota sent with university assistance reached 40 people. “For 2017, costs are fully borne by the university. In 2018 only partial subsidies were provided. Meanwhile, for 2019, only assistance with ticket purchases will be provided. Undiksha is considered good. Actually from student UKT, there is no allocation for overseas PPL and PKL. This is actually a fund managed by Undiksha. “We hope that participants can be independent,” said the Head of LPPPM, Prof. Dr. AAIN Marhaeni, M.A., Wednesday (10/4/2019).
Seeing that student interest in participating in the program is increasing, Undiksha continues to strive to develop collaboration with a number of universities in other countries, one of which is Malaysia. This is determined selectively. Namely, at least level III and have an educational program. “At the evaluation meeting with SEAMEO in Malaysia, we also developed collaboration with several universities. “This is to respond to the increasing interest of students in joining the program,” she explained.
Furthermore, Marhaeni conveyed that this program was part of the internationalization at home that had been launched by the Chancellor. Apart from sending students, Undiksha also accepts students from PKL and PPL programs from a number of universities abroad. “The universities that are invited to collaborate also send students to Undiksha. It’s already running. “In essence, we want to provide maximum experience for students,” she added. (hms)
