Singaraja- The application of the Physical Education Sports and Health (PJOK) learning model in elementary schools, especially the lower grades, is still a difficulty for teachers, especially in the midst of online learning. This is partly due to limited guidelines. It is hoped that this condition will not continue. Academics at the Ganesha University of Education are also trying to provide a solution through a community service program (P2M) which targets teachers in Sukasada District, Buleleng, Friday (4/6/2021).
This program is chaired by Ni Luh Putu Spyanawati, S.Pd., M.Pd, and members I Made Satyawan, S.Pd., M.Pd. Both are academics from the Faculty of Sports and Health (FOK). Spyanawati explained that in PJOK learning, the teacher realized that the characteristics of low-grade children were introducing material while playing. However, teachers still have difficulty finding and using the right form of games for learning. “Even though teachers really need thematic game models for PJOK material for elementary school students, especially in lower grades,” she explained.
Based on observations, there is no solution that teachers have found to overcome this problem, either through training and mentoring the implementation of game models in thematic-based PJOK learning. So far, PJOK learning has usually only focused on the material in the textbook, and the teacher assigns students to do the movements as in the book. In addition, students are fixated on the movements given by the teacher. “Here thematic learning does not occur, PJOK learning is like learning that is separate from other subjects, especially in grades 1, 2, and 3,” she explained.
A number of these things became the reason for rolling this P2M. He explained, in accordance with the low-grade integrated thematic learning modules in the 2013 curriculum, the PJOK learning model was developed using the spider web model (spider-webbed). A pairwise jarring model (spider-webbed) this development begins with determining the theme. After the theme is agreed upon, if deemed necessary, it is developed into a sub-theme while still showing the interrelationships between other subjects. After that, various supporting learning activities were developed. “This spider web model uses a thematic approach to integrate multiple lessons. The set theme gives the teacher the opportunity to find concepts, skills, or attitudes that will be integrated,” she explained.
Through this program in collaboration with the Sports Teacher Working Group (KKGO) in Sukasada District, elementary school teachers’ knowledge is increasing in implementing PJOK learning with Thematic-based games. In addition, training can explore the development potential and creativity of teachers to design more interesting learning so that learning objectives can be achieved. “We hope that with this activity, PJOK learning will be better and continue to attract students’ interest,” added Spyanawati. The Chairperson of the Sukasada District KKGO, Made Wardana, S.Pd., appreciated the implementation of this activity as one of the efforts to improve the quality of teachers. She hopes that this or similar activities can be carried out on an ongoing basis. (hms)
