Singaraja, December 10, 2024 – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to maximize its income-generating potential through various assets to support its transition from a Public Service Agency State University (PTN-BLU) to a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH). One significant initiative comes from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), which is leveraging its integrated health laboratory as a strategic revenue source.
To support this optimization, the Faculty of Medicine held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, to discuss the formulation of service fee standards for laboratory usage. The discussion aimed to strengthen regulations on laboratory service fees, ensuring that both internal and external users contribute to the faculty and university’s overall revenue.
Undikshas Vice Rector for PLanning, Finance, and General Affairs, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., commended the Faculty of Medicine for its initiative in maximizing laboratory potential. “A laboratory of this scale should not be maintained without generating benefits or income. its utilization should support learning research, and also contribute to revenue beyond student tuition fees,” he emphasized.
In terms of revenue management, 80% of the income from laboratory services will be allocated for operational and management costs, while the remaining 20% will be directed to the university’s general revenue fund. This model aims to ensure that laboratory utilization effectively supports the financial sustainability of the institutions.
Vice Dean II of FK Undiksha, Dr. dr. Ni Luh Kadek Alit Arsani, S.Ked., M.Biomed, highlighted the crucial role of the integrated health laboratory, not only as a learning facility but also as a research support unit. “This laboratory has great potential to become a flagship facility of FK, significantly contributing to facility revenue. The equipment can be rented out to researchers or external parties in need of laboratory services,” she explained.
She further affirmed FK Undiksha’s commitment to enhancing university revenue by optimizing asset utilization, including equipment rental and laboratory services. “This initiative is part of our strategy to support Undiksha’s transition to PTN-BH while also contributing to the well-being of our academic community,” she added.
With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, Undiksha’s Faculty of Medicine is optimistic that its integrated laboratory will become a key pillar in strengthening the university’s financial independence and global competitiveness.
