Singaraja – Thousands of prospective students at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) for the 2019/2020 academic year took part in the Campus Life Orientation (OKK) which opened, on Tuesday (13/8/2019). The younger generation must be able to excel, implement the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, and be able to characterize it as a generation in the 4.0 industrial revolution era. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd.
The former Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Education (FIP) explained that Tri Hita Karana is the basis for realizing Undiksha’s vision as a superior university in Asia in 2045. Therefore, this universal philosophy must continue to be echoed, both in maintaining good relations with God, with fellow humans, and with the environment. “Tri Hita Karana are three causes of happiness. All Undiksha residents must remember and implement it, “he said.
In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, university graduates are faced with challenges, including increasingly stringent competitiveness. This is also offset by changes in situations and conditions that are fast and difficult to predict. Therefore, these 2,728 prospective students must prepare early by improving self-quality and prioritizing critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative attitudes. “The 4Cs must be owned by students. It must be a generation that characterizes the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” he said.
Mastery of foreign languages, at least English and information technology is also imposed on students. According to the Chancellor of Jampel, this is to increase competitiveness. Not only domestically, but also at the international level. To support this, this university with A accreditation already has an International Center of English Excellence program. “In the 2019 curriculum, learning English is also given more than before. For IT learning, students are also given space. Undiksha doesn’t just push it. But provide facilities,” he said. Especially for the implementation of OKK, hazing by the committee is strictly prohibited. Must prioritize education and show creativity. “This activity should be cheerful. Must be educative. Undiksha has been doing this for several years. Hopefully, this year will be even better,” added the Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency.
Meanwhile, Chair of the OKK Committee, Made Vera Yanti said that at this annual activity, there were a number of materials provided for students, starting from a general introduction to the campus, supporting facilities, Student Activity Units (UKM) as well as material related to national insights and leadership by presenting sources from the Ministry of Defence. “The activities are educational. Still prioritizing discipline. Materials are also provided related to the Student Creativity Program,” he explained. OKK this year is different from before. At the closing on August 19, the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education will attend, as well as inaugurate a tropical fruit garden at the Jinengdalem Campus, a business incubator, and a drinking water filter machine on the central campus.
