Ganesha Education University students, Eka Monita Wahyuning Santi, majoring in Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), and Novie Permatasari majoring in PAUD Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, succeeded in presenting achievements. This seventh-semester student won third place in the 2018 Adikarya Negeri (Lieutenant) National Essay Competition held by the Indonesian Education University (UPI), Bandung.
Wahyuning Santi said that at the competition, her essay was about learning sekar rare for early childhood in order to instill the noble values of Balinese culture. “Before the announcement of the top ten, we sent essays to the committee. The essay was written beforehand. Because it fits the theme of the competition, try sending it. “We need a little correction,” she explained after meeting with Vice Chancellor III, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Pujawan, M.Kes., Monday (12/11/2018).
To get this achievement, their work had to compete with around 60 essays from other universities and had to be presented in front of a jury which took place from 25 to 27 October 2018. Even though they had not succeeded in getting to the top position, these two students from Java admitted that they were quite proud. “This is also because of the university’s support. “We are also grateful,” she explained.
It is hoped that his thoughts contained in the essay can support the world of education and be applied in the teaching and learning process. “For us, Sekar Rare is very full of character building values. “So it needs to be applied to early childhood education,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Pujawan really appreciated this student’s achievements. It is hoped that it can be an example for other students. “We really encourage students to take part in competitions. Moreover, we can win the championship,” she stressed. (hms)
