Singaraja- The Department of Law and Citizenship, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (FHIS) Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) is not only active in holding internal activities on campus, one of which is a national seminar. However, he also participated in external activities, one of which was the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) regarding the structuring of judicial power held by the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR-RI), on Friday (24/5/2019).
There were five academics from this department who took part in the FGD in Kuta, Badung Regency. Namely Prof. Dr. Sukadi, M.Pd., M.Ed who is also the Dean of FHIS, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M., Dr. I Nengah Suastika, M.Pd, Ni Putu Rai Yuliartini, S.H., M.H., and Made Sugi Hartono, S.H., M.H.
Dewa Mangku, one of them, expressed the view that there was a need to reform and expand the authority of the judicial commission, such as the supervision of the police and prosecutors. Then eliminate other authorities given by law to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Prof. Sukadi hopes that the MPR RI as a high state institution can strengthen its dignity. Through this, the constitution and Pancasila can be further maintained.
Through this activity, the Department of Law and Citizenship is also solidifying plans to hold a national seminar in July or August by presenting speakers from the MPR-RI. “We have communicated with the MPR-RI. “The plan is to include a national seminar,” explained Sukadi. It is hoped that the seminar will be able to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR) in the department, both lecturers and students, especially in the fields of law and Pancasila. Apart from the MPR, the previous seminar also presented well-known speakers. Some of them are the famous lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea and the Main Director of Sinar Mas. (hms)
