Singaraja- Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Education Ganesha (FMIPA-Undiksha) held a scientific discussion, on 11 September 2019. The event which took place at the Undiksha Seminar Building carried the theme “Invention-Based Technology Commercialization Strategy” with resource person Prof.Ir. I Gede Wenten M.Sc.,Ph.D. He is a professor at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
Dean of FMIPA Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Supartha, M.Si, in his remarks, said that this event was a medium for sharing experiences and inspiring lecturers and students, especially in improving the quality of research. “We hope this can add insight and become an inspiration for participants so that later they can develop regional potential, especially Bali more optimally,” he said.
The committee chairman, Dr. I Gusti Lanang Wiratma, M.Sc., said that apart from the academic community, this event also invited the Regional Development Planning Agency, Research and Development of the Buleleng Regency, the Buleleng Regency Industry Office, the Buleleng Regency Fisheries Service, and the Buleleng Regency Tourism Office.
Meanwhile, Prof. Wenten, who is involved in the field of membrane technology, in his presentation conveyed a lot about his experience in developing membrane technology. “Membranes can later be used everywhere, membranes can be applied in all sectors, even including households and meatball sellers,” he said.
Membrane applications, said the academic from Buleleng, have been widely applied, especially in water purification and waste treatment. “Industrial applications that are being developed in Indonesia, especially ITB, are applications in the medical field for the production of dialysis and Hemodialysis machines. Some applications in Indonesia are indeed different from those commonly used in the world. Like the application in shrimp ponds, maybe we are the first in this sector. In fact, according to him, Indonesia is the only country that utilizes membrane technology in this sector,” he added. (rls)
