Singaraja- Self-learning for the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) never stops. This time, in an effort to increase capacity towards a superior and competitive university, the largest state university in North Bali presented the Chancellor of Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Prof. Dr. Sutrisna Wibawa, M.Pd., to share insights which are packaged in a public seminar, Tuesday (29/10/2019).
As is well known, UNY is one of the LPTKs in the Asian rankings. For this reason, the presence of the Chancellor who is known for being humorous is expected to be able to provide vibrations to increase Undiksha’s capacity, including realizing the vision of becoming a superior university based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045. “On this occasion, we hope to get experience and knowledge sharing from the Chancellor of UNY,” said the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. in opening this event. The Chancellor who was born in Bualu hopes that through this seminar many things will be adopted and implemented by Undiksha in the future.
The same thing was expressed by the Vice Rector I of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. Increasing the capacity of Undiksha as a superior and competitive university both academically and non-academic must be carried out by the entire academic community. “Here we are trying so that in the future our lecturers can increase publications both in quantity and quality. And also improve student achievement in the national and international arena, “he added.
The youngest Vice Chancellor of Undiksha also revealed that the Chancellor of Undiksha had designed a number of innovative programs in 2020. This must be carried out with all Undiksha residents. “Innovative program designs have been designed that lead to higher education clustering, institutional accreditation both nationally and internationally,” he said.
On the other hand, Sutrisna Wibawa, as the speaker, gave his views on how to be superior and competitive. In his presentation, superior is interpreted to have advantages over the others. Meanwhile, competitiveness can be done in the fields of research, teaching, graduates, and cooperation. Besides that, the Chancellor, who has long been friends with the Rector of Undiksha, emphasized that this is not only the chancellor’s job, but also must have the support of all stakeholders. “I believe excellence in Asia for Undiksha can be achieved in 2025. But to achieve that all parties must work hard,” he said. He added that in the future Undiksha must have a clear target. Research works in the form of journals, joint research, international programs, attending seminars and international publications are some of the things that support it. “Research, education, excellent graduate programs, and cooperation must be pursued,” he said.
At the end of the event, the Chancellor of Undiksha hoped that all participants would get their own benefits from the presentation of the material by the Chancellor of UNY. This can happen because of the joint commitment of the Chancellors of LPTKs in Indonesia to move forward together to become superior and competitive universities at the national and international levels.
