Singaraja- Leadership, communication skills, creative thinking, and skills in technology literacy are very important things for someone to have in the digital era. This is one of the provisions to increase competitiveness. The Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) S-3 Study Program of Education took steps to disseminate these skills through an international seminar, Monday (27/9/2021). The event, which collaborated with the Doctoral Education Study Program Association (PPSDP), presented a number of speakers from abroad.
The seminar, which took place online and offline, was attended by hundreds of participants from various universities in Indonesia, including Undiksha. Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., who represented the Chancellor opening the event said that the presence of the digital era can trigger very fast changes, many complex things to be faced, and many very ambiguous things going forward. Facing this, what is important to have is not only knowledge, but also needs to be supported by leadership skills, literacy culture, digital literacy, creative thinking, and so on. Undiksha has endeavored to realize these skills through various activities, both academic and non-academic. “To grow these skills, it is the responsibility of all of us, including the government and so on,” he said.
Delivered further, Indonesia has various types of culture that can be an advantage. This, according to Rasben Dantes, can be integrated into the world of education. “I think Indonesia has a culture, then it has a culture that has uniqueness. I think this advantage can be brought up. So now what is called Ethno pedagogy, ethnoscience, and so on is developing. Hopefully, in the future this culture can be well integrated into us improving or perfecting what we have done,” he hoped.
On this occasion, this informatics academic gave his appreciation to the Doctoral Program in Education Sciences which had held this seminar. He hopes that the seminars that present various topics can provide new insights and international experiences, especially for students. “Through this activity, I hope to be able to discuss many things, especially during this pandemic, of which there are several learning loss actually. “Hopefully from today’s discussions we can provide solutions to the whole community, children, both in the lowest educational units, kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school, and tertiary institutions,” he added.
Coordinator of Undiksha’s Doctoral Education Study Program, Prof. Dr. Putu Kerti Nitiasih, M.A., emphasized that leadership skills, creativity, and technological literacy are included in the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). Therefore, the study program seeks to strengthen and this international seminar is one of the media. “Like this, conducting seminars, assigning Ph.D. students in Education to do this work. It is one of the exercises for them to become a leader, how to communicate ideas, and how accepted by their friends. So that’s one way,” she said.
This academic who once served as Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Languages and Arts emphasized that her study program is still making maximum efforts to produce quality graduates who are ready to face the technological era. Various programs are designed for it, such as joint lectures, visiting professors, joint research, and joint consortium.
Specifically related to the seminar, a number of keynote speakers were presented, namely the AIA-GESS International Gymnasium Program Manager, Tbilisi, Georgia, Tamar Lolishvili, Professor and Head (Research) Dr.D.Y.Patil B-School Pune, Maharashtra, India, Atul Kumar, Philippine Stewards for Humanity and Excellence Inc. There is also David D. Perroid from Mahidol University Thailand, Xenia Konstantinopoulou who is the Co-Founders & Co-Owner of My Way, Thessaloniki, Greece, and Banthita Intamano from Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand.
