Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in 2023 is again trusted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) as one of the tertiary institutions implementing the In-service Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG-Daljab) Category I. Universities span North Bali this gets the allocation of participants as many as 496 people. The participants attended the initial orientation online, Monday (8/5/2023).
PPG students this time consist of the Natural Sciences (IPA) study field, the Physical, Health, and Recreation Education Study Field, and the Basic Education Study Field. These students come from various regions in Indonesia, so PPG Undiksha is called the “Rainbow Archipelago”.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd welcomed PPG students. He said Undiksha was one of the LPTKs which currently has the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU) in Indonesia, which on its way was given an expanded mandate by the ministry to open several study programs outside of education. But core values from Undiksha’s activities remain in the field of education and now Undiksha has been able to produce several prospective teachers and professional teachers both through regular education and through PPG.
Undiksha currently has A (Excellent) accreditation and thanks to the joint work of all academicians, several study programs have also won international accreditation in the AQAS standard. On the other hand, Undiksha has also won a number of achievements, both in the academic field, in the field of financial management, and in the field of student affairs.
Delivered further, currently Undiksha is one of the barometers of implementing the PPG program, both in positions and in others. The PPG graduation rate held by Undiksha for the last 5 years has always been above the national average, and has always been in the top 3. “This is proof that PPG management at Undiksha has been implemented well,” said Prof. Lasmawan.
Regarding the implementation of PPG Daljab Batch I of 2023, Undiksha is committed to providing the best service it should get. He also hopes that PPG’s good spirit can continue to be maintained, both by the implementing committee and by the students. “I advised everyone to maintain this good spirit. Please provide evidence that what we are doing is solely for the best for ourselves, for Undiksha, and for increasing the capacity and dignity of national education,” he continued.
The Chancellor, who was just appointed on April 13, 2023, also emphasized that through this PPG, Undiksha is committed to producing professional teachers. Constelatively, professional teachers are those who understand and carry out and cultivate academic competence, pedagogical competence, professional competence, and social competence. Admittedly, realizing this is not easy. But it is believed that with good synergy between participants, lecturers, and managers and supported by excellent service, this goal can be realized. “I believe that if we want to improve the world, we must implement an education program well because only education can answer the challenges and problems of the world. Other instruments may not move optimally if the position is post-major, but educational institutions must exist to prepare humans to be better,” he emphasized.
Therefore, Undiksha is really focused on designing various programs to prove Undiksha’s educational services are something that can be a pearl that can be remembered by every nation, not just Indonesia.
PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd explained that after the initial orientation, students will proceed to the lecture process which consists of deepening the material, developing innovative learning tools, and innovative learning practices. In addition, later also take a comprehensive exam and knowledge exam. It is hoped that all of these stages can be followed properly. “PPG’s success is greatly supported by the commitment of all of us, including the students,” he said.
Nurjaya also hopes that the implementation of PPG this time will be better than before, both in terms of process and quality of graduates. The hope is none other than to produce teachers who are superior, have integrity, character, and professionalism who will then be able to support the development of Indonesia’s Human Resources (HR). “Undiksha as an institution that is concerned with improving the quality of education, of course, has always played an active role in the success of the innovative and futuristic programs launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology,” he said.
