Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is currently preparing a revised 2016 curriculum. Field Work Practices (PKL) for students is also a concern. The implementation time is planned to be longer than before. This is an effort to produce skilled and competitive graduates. “PKL is currently not well coordinated. The implementation is still left to each study program. Problems arise, such as MoUs with street vendors, monitoring and evaluation problems. “This needs to be addressed so that street vendors can run well according to expectations and quality is guaranteed,” said Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Si., in a meeting that took place in the LPPPM Undiksha Seminar Room, Tuesday (29/1/2019).
Accompanied by the Chair of LPPPM, Prof. Dr. AAIN. Marhaeni, M.A., at the meeting attended by the study program coordinator, the Deputy Chancellor from the Ministry of Justice, Gianyar, hoped that the implementation of PKL in the future, for vocational students for one year would be appropriate. This also looks at the hopes and needs of stakeholders. “We want it to last one year so that students can really learn to do real work. “This can be an application of the theory given on campus,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, for the S-1 level, the continuation also needs to be longer. This program also aims to improve skills. If this policy runs, there will most likely be a reduction in knowledge (theory) subjects. Even if taught, you can use an online system. “Such subjects can now be accessed via smartphone. It’s very easy. “It’s better to maximize practice because this is important for the world of work,” he said.
Currently, the implementation of this program is still regulated by each study program. Implementation takes around two to three months. It cannot be denied that the skills possessed by students and graduates do not fully meet expectations. “The time given to street vendors must be sufficient. Don’t just give it two months, three months. “So in this curriculum revision, the PKL time can be longer,” he added.
Chairman of LPPPM, Prof. Marhaeni hopes that in this curriculum revision, all study programs can contribute ideas, including in implementing PKL. No less important, it needs to be coordinated intensively. “For street vendors, please submit it to LPPPM. “So everyone knows and it’s easier to coordinate,” she said. This curriculum revision is an effort to boost the quality of graduates who will face increasingly fierce competition in the future, one of which is the Industrial Revolution 4.0. (hms)
