Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to boost achievements through the Student Creativity Program (PKM). This is one of the strategies to increase the grade of the institution, both at the national and international levels. To make this happen, a PKM celebration activity was held by presenting three speakers in training for supervising lecturers, on Tuesday (6/8/2019).
The resource person, namely Dr. Misbah Fikrianto, S.Pd., MM., Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sundani Nurono Soewandi, Apt., and Dr. err. Nat. I Wayan Karyasa, S.Pd.,M.Sc. The participants consisted of hundreds of lecturers from various study programs and a number of students who were members of the Student Reasoning Activity Unit and Student Scientific Work.
As the first speaker, Misbah Fikrianto revealed that in preparing the PKM proposal, creative ideas need to be supported and have an advantage. In this case, it is also appropriate to see collaboration between study programs and faculties. “This is important to do. Can complement each other. There must be an advantage offered in PKM,” he said.
He who also serves as the Head of Reasoning and Creativity Sub-Directorate of the Directorate of Student Affairs, Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education said that the preparation of PKM was often hampered by uncertain student motivation and the process of developing ideas from lecturers and students who were still weak. This needs serious attention from universities, one of which is intensifying training. “With training, creativity and ideas will emerge,” he said.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., said the PKM celebration was very important to arouse students’ interest in competing in the National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas), especially those who received scholarships. The annual event is very prestigious and is one of the indicators to show university competitiveness at the national level. “I said that Pimnas is the most prestigious activity for students. Students are the mouthpiece of the university. Those who get scholarships also have to be serious about participating. Don’t just make a proposal so you can get a scholarship. If there is such, the scholarship will be considered. It was even proposed to be repealed,” he said accompanied by Deputy Rector III, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd.
It is hoped that in the future Undiksha will be able to enter the top ten best. Students who win gold medals will be given prizes. The same thing is also addressed to the supervising lecturer. “For students, if you get gold, you have to have an undergraduate degree. They are no longer finished, their thesis is not finished, they are DOES. That’s not true. If you already got gold in Pimnas, why do you have to drag out your thesis? This is what we will follow up, forward it to the faculty leadership,” he added. (hms)
