Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to strive to improve the status of journals, especially those indexed by SINTA (Science and Technology Index). One way to do this is by intensifying re-accreditation assistance, as was the case on Wednesday (15/7/2020).
Head of the Undiksha Journal Development Center, Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that the re-accreditation was carried out on 27 journals consisting of various fields of science, starting from education, science, humanities, social sciences, economics, and technology. “Today we are providing assistance as an effort to make the Undiksha journal better and have an increased status than before,” he said.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., said that currently, Undiksha has 79 SINTA-indexed journals. This number brings this superior accredited university to the top ranking out of 12 Educational Institutions for Teaching Personnel (LPTK) in Indonesia. However, according to him, efforts are still needed to improve, both in terms of quantity and quality, including for globally indexed journals. “In the future, we must continue to manage the quantity and quality of journals. In addition, the development can be more specific according to the scientific field. I saw this stage already on the track to answer the Chancellor’s work contract with the ministry,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., in his briefing, said that an increase in the quantity and quality of journals had been planned in 2016. This was to support the accreditation of study programs and to support university rankings, at both national and international levels. “The more number of our publications, especially in reputable journals, the better the ranking of universities will be,” he said.
The Nusa Dua-born rector appreciated the work of the journal management team, both at the university and faculty levels. This is expected to increase the status of the journal. “How can a journal that originally entered SINTA be four, be able to go up to three? So do the three or two I hope to continue on to Scopus,” he said, adding that this movement needs the support of the entire academic community. (hms)
