Singaraja- The rapid development of technology encourages public services to be able to adapt. Innovation and creativity efforts need to be made in order to continue to be able to compete. The Ganesha University of Education Library (Undiksha) pays serious attention to technological developments that have stepped into the 4.0 era. Increasing the competence of human resources (HR), in this case, librarians continues to be carried out in an effort to maximize service, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The steps taken are no longer limited to direct services in the library. But also by utilizing information technology in which there is a touch of creativity, information, educative, and attraction. In this case, it is very important to have a content creator who becomes a “cooker” of various information related to services to the public. In line with that, a webinar was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Higher Education Library Forum (FPPTI) Bali, Wednesday (29/9/2021). “This webinar aims to share knowledge and experiences on how one can become a digital content creator in managing social media content that is creative, informative, educative, and attractive which is a challenge for librarians in today’s digital era,” said the Head of UPT Library Undiksha, Dr. Made Hery W. Griadhi, S.H., M.Sc.
Delivered further, in order to maintain or increase the existence of the library as a learning space, it is appropriate for librarians to follow global trends and always be up to date on world technological developments. “Especially during this pandemic. There needs to be a breakthrough in technology-based services,” he said.
The man from Gerokgak District, Buleleng also reminded that the existence of the library is the heart of the educational program and as an information center which is very much needed in the development of civilization today. For this reason, libraries must play a more active role in presenting the latest and foremost information in managing information. “Therefore, library managers must be keen to seize opportunities in maintaining the library as a center of information,” he said.
When asked about services provided by the Undiksha library, Herry, his nickname, stated that he had entered the use of information technology. Various types of information have been disseminated through social media. “Including we have also prepared an e-book. So students can access book information online,” he explained.
Apart from opening the webinar representing the Chancellor of Undiksha, he was also a resource person by presenting the material “Librarians in the Era of Digital Disruption”. He appeared with the guest speaker, Yehuda Abiel, S.Sos., Head of the Ciputra University Surabaya Library, who presented the material “Make an Outstanding Content for Your Library”.
This webinar was attended by library managers, school libraries, general tertiary institutions, special libraries, students majoring in libraries, library observers, and the general public. “We hope that this activity can provide benefits in the context of better library management,” he concluded.
