Singapore- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has carried Tri Hita Karana as the “spirit” of development. This philosophy which is defined as the three causes of happiness is not only implemented within the scope of the campus. But it also spreads to the community through service programs. One of the forms is the reforestation of the Panji Anom village forest which took place on December 20, 2019. “This is an implementation of Tri Hita Karana in terms of maintaining good relations with nature,” said the Head of the Undiksha Community Service Center, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Wijana, M.S., in between activities.
In this activity in synergy with the local village government, coconut trees were planted. This is to assist reforestation in an effort to increase nature conservation and water discharge in the Banyumala River basin. “There are still lots of vacant land at the planting site,” he explained.
This investment, he continued, is also expected to provide other benefits, namely boosting the economy. “What is being planted is fruit trees. From this, we hope that there will be other benefits for the community apart from the preservation of the forest that is maintained,” he added. In addition to this program, Undiksha through the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) also pays attention to developing village potentials, such as tourism and industry through the innovation service program.
