Singaraja– August is a historic month for the Indonesian nation. Exactly on August 17, the Indonesian nation commemorates independence day, and in 2022 it will be 77 years old.
Various events were held, such as competitions, pilgrimages to the graves of heroes, and so on. This event, especially for the younger generation, is to interpret the values of independence.
Of course, the implementation of the values of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia does not stop there. Sustained movement needs to be done in various ways. Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) academic, I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that the younger generation has an obligation to do this. Its form is no longer by fighting the invaders by lifting sharp bamboo like in the old days. But filling independence by becoming a community that has an identity and is responsible for their respective roles. Like students, they must continue to improve their quality to become superior, creative, innovative young people who will later become the backbone of national development and the next baton holders. Likewise with lecturers, through the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service.
This academic in the field of historical studies also hopes that the younger generation can support the nation to recover more quickly from various problems, one of which is the Covid-19 pandemic, and to rise stronger for the progress of the Indonesian nation. (hms)
