Singaraja-Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) released hundreds of students to join the internship program on Monday (20/2/2023). This program is one of the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) implementations.
This release took place in a hybrid manner. Based on the report of the PKKPV Center for Quality Assurance and Learning Development Undiksha Head, Ketut Udy Ariawan, S.T., M.T, this internship program was attended by 569 students from 2 study programs at D3 level, 4 study programs from D4 level, and 15 study programs from S1 level. The implementation of this program lasts until June 2023 in collaboration with several DUDI consisting of various fields.
Students were released by Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He said that this semester’s internship activities in the industry use the MBKM curriculum, or at Undiksha, it is called the MBKM Terjaga curriculum. Through this curriculum, Undiksha wants to maintain independent learning activities by students following the National Higher Education Standards, which provide opportunities for students to carry out their learning for three semesters outside their study program both inside and outside the University. “We call it kampus merdeka terjaga because we want students to continue to get the competencies they deserve or should get to be able to graduate with good competition, good skills, with good interpersonal skills,” he said.
Furthermore, in the internship program, students from non-educational study programs will carry it out in the Business and Industrial World or Dunia Usaha dan Dunia Industri (DUDI) following their main competencies. This program takes place in one semester with 14 Semester Credit Units, like those that conduct educational assistance in schools.
The essence of this internship activity is how students not only know the problems in the field but linking with the theory learned in class for five semesters. But the most important thing is Undiksha wants students to gain new knowledge from practitioners. There is a transfer of skills, as well as a transfer of knowledge from supervisors in the field. In addition, students are also desired to get technology transfer that may not have been obtained in lectures. “The most important thing from the educational process is the transfer of value from supervisors in the field so that students know the value of a good work ethic and have humanitarian values,” said Rasben Dantes.
Dinas Kependudukan dan Pencatatan Sipil (Disdukcapil) of Buleleng Regency is one of Undiksha’s partners in implementing the internship program. The speech of the Head of the Office, read by the Head of Population Administration Information Management, I Nyoman Arya Lanang Subahagia Putra, S.STP., M.AP., conveyed that this internship program is a form of good cooperation in providing work experience for students. “With this internship activity, it is hoped that it can provide valuable experience to students before going into the world of work and also, of course, for the Dukcapil Service for the development of performance in our place,” he said.
Previously, Buleleng Disdukcapil received Undiksha students for the same program. Student’s presence is considered to contribute to the agency in service. (hms)
