Singaraja- The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) again held the International Conference on Mathematics and Natural Sciences (IconMNS), 30 and 31 August 2019 in Kuta, Badung Regency. This biennial event is a forum for lecturers to establish scientific communication with colleagues from all over Indonesia and also colleagues abroad. From that, there are additional insights and open opportunities in terms of research collaboration both at home and abroad. “This additional insight will improve the quality of lecturers which will have an effect on improving the quality of education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in particular and Undiksha in general,” said the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suparta, M.Sc.
At the event, seven keynote speakers were invited from Japan, Germany, Italy, and Indonesia. The first day was followed by 215 participants from all over Indonesia and from Germany. Carrying the theme “Involvement of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Marine and Educational Research to Realize Sustainable Development or Developing Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Marine and Educational Researches Oriented to Sustainable Development Goals”, this activity is also expected to introduce Undiksha, especially the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to the public. In addition, the knowledge gained by the designers can be reapplied in the learning process at the faculty and maybe it can become the main idea for further research so that it can improve the learning process. “This activity describes the research that has been done. The issues raised are in accordance with the theme,” he explained.
IconMNS 2019 Committee Chair, Dr. I Gede Aris Gunadi, S.Kom., M.Kom added that apart from international conferences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Undiksa also held a national conference. It is also held every two years. “So intermittent. This year it will be international and next year it will be national,” he said. He hopes that through this program, the name of the faculty and university will be raised. “You can get to know the faculty with a lively academic atmosphere. We hope that the international conference in two years will be even better,” he added. (rls/hms)
