Denpasar- Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) is trusted to host the 2019 Asia-Pacific Network for Moral Education (APNME) conference. The event which took place at the Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Denpasar was attended by 137 participants from 19 countries. Opened by Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. I. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI, representing the Chancellor Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., Wednesday (26/6/2019).
The event carried the theme “Moral Education and Cross-Cultural Understanding”. It presents the consistency of cultural values in facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Rasben Dantes conveyed that the conference, which is in its 13th year, is a medium for academics and researchers to share knowledge and experience, especially in exploring and increasing the role of moral values in education, both at the family, school, community, national and even state levels. “This event is a medium for exchanging ideas, exchanging experiences and it is hoped that it will be able to encourage researchers to produce higher quality work,” he said.
This conference provides its own benefits for Undiksha. Among them, increasing academic participation in conferences as well as expanding and strengthening networks both individually and institutionally. No less important, this event can support internationalization at home which Undiksha has launched in 2019. “Of course, this provides space for Undiksha Academics to share their thoughts. “This also includes institutional development,” he explained, while hoping that through this event future cooperation would also emerge, especially in the field of education.
Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Dr. Putu Kerti Nitiasih, M.A. said that several conference participants came from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, America, and several European countries. Later they will have a paper presentation. “Initially there were 82 papers collected. “After selection, only 67 papers, 5 posters, and 3 symposiums passed,” he explained. The conference, which runs until June 30, also includes regular meetings of APNME members, and visits to schools to observe teaching and learning processes related to moral education. (hms)
