Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education as the largest university in North Bali has around 13,000 students. As an educational institution, Undiksha pays attention to the threat of drugs to society by holding a Webinar with the theme “Undiksha Moves Together Against Drugs”, Tuesday (13/7/2020). On this occasion, two speakers were presented, namely the Deputy Regent of Buleleng Regency, dr. I Nyoman Sutjidra, Sp.OG. and Head of the National Narcotics Agency for Buleleng Regency, AKBP Gede Astawa, S.H., M.H.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. who opened the event revealed that this activity was one of the efforts to increase public understanding, especially the Undiksha academic community about the effects of drugs. “This is something that is very important for all components of society to know. What is the impact of drugs, “he said.
Delivered further, drugs have become a national problem. Through this socialization, it is hoped that the academic world can be free from drugs. “So later we can enter this program to provide education to the public about the dangers of drugs. Because after all the dangers of this drug will damage the younger generation. Not only mentally but also physically. If you are physically weak, it will have an impact on the resilience of the nation,” he said.
Deputy Regent of Buleleng, Nyoman Sutjidra, delivered the material “The Role of the Village against the Drug Threat”. In his presentation, it was stated that the vital role of Traditional Villages in Bali is in preventing the spread of narcotics which is now a serious problem. “The traditional village is a stronghold against the threat of drugs. This is stated in the Permendes PDTT Number 11 of 2019 concerning the priority use of village funds. Use of Village Funds to prevent Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,” he stressed.
The official from Bontihing Village, Kubudindingan District, Buleleng also hopes for the role of the Undiksha community, especially in community service to educate the public about the threat of drugs. “Hopefully the Regional Government of Buleleng, Undiksha, BNNK Buleleng, and the community can work together to prevent drug abuse and spread. Besides that, with joint programs, Undiksha can be sterile from drugs,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Gede Astawa explained more specific material related to the impact of drugs on the younger generation and also the Indonesian people. “The younger generation is like the roots of a nation attacked by drugs,” he said. Astawa also explained how the situation of drug abuse and distribution in Buleleng Regency. Do not forget, he conveyed the impact of drugs in terms of health, society, education, economy, and law. In line with Sutjidra, Astawa hopes that the synergy of all parties is necessary in dealing with drug abuse. “Apart from BNNP and BNNK, of course, synergy is needed between the Regional Government, campuses, schools, and the community to be able to anticipate drug problems,” he concluded.
